The first photo essay, of prisons, viewed in class had very little words or explaination about what the pictures represented. All of the pictures in the first essay were very desolate and they were all in balck and white, many containing signs within the pictures. The black and white colors and the isolation of the pictures strengthened the desolate mood of the essay.
The second essay, Covering Conflict, was an audio essay which showed corresponding pictures as a story of conflict was told. The images "make you think of the world you live in" and they show change in th world. This essay provokes strong emotions through the haunting images and the solemn words which go along with it. The third essay, of the Myanmar protest, was a picture slide show, like a powerpoint, depicting the images with a sentence caption on the side. The colors in the images strengthened the photo essay and the sentence on the side give me greater insight into the photo's meaning.
