The above link is of a photo essay by time magazine. It consists of many photos from the week around the world. This photo essay is a form of news, as it tells you in photos and a few short words what is happening in the photos. The photos tell more than any words could tell about the violence in other countries. While words only allow you to create an image in your head, this photo essay shows you the true scene while also explaining what is happening. Some of these pictures are haunting while others are educational and entertaining.

Writing Skills

Throughout my life, I have always been a mediocre writer. Although I have improved over the past few years, I still lack creative writing skills which may hinder my analitical writing process. I belive my strengths include my ability to explain and discribe things in a clear manner through my writing, as I have learned to use a plethora of adjectives and transitions to make my writing more clear and articulate. When I am writing a paper, I start by jotting down a list of important points to include in my paper. From the list, I create an outline which lays out the whole paper for me. From there, I write the rough draft in a timely manner to get all of my thoughts out at once, and then finish by polishing the rough draft into the final paper. To get information on my topic, I use a wide array of materials including the internet, books, articles, and sometimes even things such as song lyrics. Depending on the topic, I may use more of one source over another. In my writing, I need to improve on making my sentences more smooth and easier to read. I also would like to be able to use a bigger vocabulary in my writing to make it more sophisticated.
